Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actress and presenter. Vergara was the highest paid actress on American television between 2013 to 2020.Vergara became famous after co-hosting two television shows for Spanish-language television channel Univision in the latter part of the 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was her first significant acting role in English. Later, she appeared in Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Come to Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. The first time she appeared was as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in ABC's comedy show Modern Family, for which she received nominations for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards and eleven Screen Actor Guild Awards. She also had voice-over roles in the animated films Happy Feet Two (2011), Escape from Planet Earth (2013) and The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara is an American judge on America's Got Talent since 2020. Vergara was born in Barranquilla by a Roman Catholic couple. Vergara's mother Margarita Vergara De Vergara worked as a homemaker, while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as a cattle rancher within the meat industry. In the eyes of her five siblings and many cousins, she was named "Toti". Vergara first studied dentistry for three years at the National University of Colombia, however she decided to leave two semesters from finishing her degree to pursue opportunities in modeling and show business.
