Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and was a part of her early years living in Chicago. Amy was a part of her family in Chicago while she was in junior high. Her parents, Bob, and Barb taught at the American School in the Middle East. Amy is the sister Betsy, Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has backpacked all over Europe with her family as well as independently. Both of them were teachers and were able to travel and camp together every summer because of this. They've camped across every state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy traveled to Rwanda in 1994 following the war in order to help with aid efforts to help the victims. Amy was a talented actor in school plays , and she won writing contests. High school was where she was a star athlete, placing in the first ever 3200 meter relay race for girls in the Illinois track. After an injury, she returned to college and played many parts on the stage, starting with Lanford Wilson’s “Fifth of July” and then directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon. Amy graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) in the year of cum laude, with an A.A. East Asian history, with a concentration in Theater. After graduating, she moved to Chicago and pursued a degree in Improv at the Improv Olympic. She also pursued acting at The Actor's Center. Soon after graduating, she took on a contract as an actress on the soap show Another World (1964). She was nominated in the "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series" category for the Daytime Emmy Award. Her most memorable roles were those played by strong women, like Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)), Katie Owen and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods(2003). Carlson lives in New York City, with Syd Butler as her husband and Bassist of Les Savy Fav. She is also the proprietor of Frenchkiss Records, an independent music label, and works as part-owner. Amy continues to write and explore diverse and original jobs in the film industry.
