Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American actor and singer with Irish heritage, was a well-known figure. The fiery, passionate role she played in several American films attracted attention to the beautiful green eyed beauty. Her glamour and beauty were well-loved. She was also referred to as'the Queen of Technicolor and was a household name in Hollywood. The characters she played on screen reflected her own strong, courageous spirit who fought for respect and survival in this male-dominated world. She was known as "the tough Irish woman", and she would not sacrifice her admiration for other people to get the roles she was entitled to due to merit. She was an ardent supporter of women's roles on television and in films, and gained numerous followers due to this. Her autobiography, "Tis herself", published in 2004 gave a candid review of her life , including the struggles she faced when she made her way up the ladder to success. She was an adventurous person who was never afraid to perform her own stunts. She appeared as an actress in more than 60 films in the past and was a pillar of international fame. In 1968, she remarried with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former air force pilot brigadier and chief of the air force who pioneered transatlantic aviation. She finally retired after couple of years of marriage. Blair, however, died in a tragic crash on a plane in the year 1978. O'Hara's happiness was short-lived. In the same year, she was also diagnosed as having uterine cancer and had to undergo an immediate operation. She recovered eventually. In the following years her health was declining and she suffered from six heart attacks, memory loss in the short term and diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara, at 95 years aged, passed away peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on the 24th of October , 2015.
