Mila Kunis was born Milena Kunis in Chernivtsi in Ukraine on August 14, 1983. Kunis, then seven years old, immigrated to America with her parents Elvira and Mark Kunis. Then, she settled in Los Angeles. The Kunis family arrived in the new country with just $250. It was a difficult beginning. Kunis' parents, both of whom quit their careers to move to a better location for their children, were determined to provide a better life for their children. Mark who was a former mechanical engineer, landed a job as an Uber driver. Elvira had previously taught physics in Ukraine and ended up owning a pharmacy. Kunis stated that he didn't fully understand the American culture when he first came to America. "I didn't know the people. I couldn't comprehend their language. My first sentence in my essay for college was "Imagine yourself being blind and deaf at age 7." And that's kind of what it felt like moving to the States. But I got over it quickly." Milena Markovna Kunis was born the 14th of August in 1983 to Mark Kunis and Elvira in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. She has an elder brother. Her mother is employed as a teacher of physics, but runs a pharmacy as well, while her father is an engineer in mechanical engineering by profession. He also doubles up by working as taxi driver. Her family is Jewish. Her family moved from Israel to Los Angeles when she turned seven. Rosewood Elementary School was her first school. She began acting lessons at the age of nine. She was a commercial auditionee, and made her TV debut in 1994 in her first appearance in Days of Our Lives. She was first cast in the 1998 sitcom That ’70s show’ as Jackie Burkhart. Her performance earned her rave reviews. In 1999, she was cast in the role of Meg Griffin on the animated sitcom Family Guy.
