Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born 16 May 1977) is an New Zealand actress. She is well-known for her quirky, soft-spoken, but strong characters. She works mostly in films that are independent. Her accolades include her winning a New Zealand Film Award, the Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, in addition to Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award, Critics' Choice Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey was a teenage murderess who made her debut in a film in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After her move to the United States, Lynskey built a successful career as a support actor in a number of large and small-budget films including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But... (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000) and Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002), Shattered glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Away We Go!, Up in the Air!, Leaves of Grass (2009), Win Win (2011) and Seeking a Wallflower (both 2014) Then They Came Together (2014) and Don't look up (2021). Lynskey was nominated for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and received critical acclaim for her performance as the depressed divorcee in The Goodbye I Must be Going (2012). It was a pivotal point in her career. Later, she was a lead in Happy Christmas, We'll Never Have Paris Goodbye to All That (all 2014), The Intervention, Rainbow Time, Little Boxes (all 2016) I Don't Feel at In This World Anymore, And Then I Go (both 2017), Sadie (2018) and Lady of the Manor (2021) have made her an influential figure in the American independent film industry. Lynskey's portrayal as Rose in CBS' sitcom Two and a Half Men (1903-2015) made her famous. From 2015 to 2016, she appeared as Michelle Pierson on the HBO series Togetherness in which she received a nomination for the 2015 Critics' Choice Television Award for the Best Supporting Actress. She was the voice of Beatrice for Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014) and Megan for Disney XD's Future-Worm! (2016-2018). She was in Molly Strand's first season of Hulu (2018) and Rosemary Thomson was her role in Mrs. America (2020).
